Hi everyone, my name is Marcus Cyganiak and I am one of two founders and owners of [login to view URL], “The Online Real Estate Magazine and Directory.” About [login to view URL] At [login to view URL], we are the ultimate source for industry news and features with the collaboration of realtors and companies in the real estate market. In addition to industry news from around the globe, we feature storied profiles on realtors, project showcases, and service rates allowing realtors to list their names and information in a directory along with listed projects and featured blog posts. About [login to view URL] I also own and run [login to view URL]. This is a website in which I use to blog and provide service charges to various clients seeking web and graphic projects for completion, whether it be a complete production from scratch or a re-design. All my work is done within the compliancy of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications of information architecture practices. Web Developing My areas of web developing expertise include being able to write HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, and PHP in text editors. Typically, I enjoy using the WordPress content management system (CMS) to produce websites. I have enjoyed re-developing numerous WordPress themes. Operating System Usage Operating Systems (OS) I currently conduct my work on include multi-platform endeavors with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on a 27-inch iMac and 15-inch MacBook Pro along with Windows 7 on a PC computer. I have previous working experiences with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98 SE, Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 3.1, MS-DOS 6.0, and MS-DOS 5.0. Software Experience My software knowledge includes high proficiency with Adobe Photoshop (CS4 and CS3), Adobe Dreamweaver (CS4 and CS3), Adobe Illustrator (CS4 and CS3), Adobe Fireworks (CS4 and CS3), Adobe Premier Pro (CS4 and CS3), Microsoft Word 2008 (Mac and PC), Microsoft Excel 2008 (Mac and PC), Microsoft PowerPoint 2008 (Mac and PC), iMovie, iPhoto, iWorks Pages ’09, iWorks Numbers ’09, and iWorks Keynote ’09 among various other applications. Background Knowledge For all my life, I have lived in the beautiful region of Vancouver, British Columbia in my native country of Canada. Living here has presented me a lot of opportunities such as my enrollment with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). I am currently a student there, looking to earn my certificate in the New Media Design and Web Development program for 2010. My background in the field of new media design did not begin in 2009 though, in fact, it began at the beginning of this millennium. Growing up, I was a big wrestling fan and my dedication to that genre of entertainment directed me to following the industry in a more in-depth fashion on the Internet. While online, I began designing my own wrestling websites and graphics for fun and that eventually transpired me into becoming a self-taught web developer and graphic designer. In 2004, I submitted a lot of my fan work to [login to view URL], the official website for TNA Wrestling on Spike TV. They contacted me back and the rest was history. I was hired on initially as a graphic designer in June 2004, and then officially joined the web team as a developer and information architect in February 2005 to collaborate on their new website design that was set for release in June 2005 as part of the company’s three-year anniversary. In August 2005, after visiting the employers of TNA Wrestling in Orlando, Florida, I was promoted with a third job title within the company and that was the handling of content writing. I began writing TNA “iMPACT!” results on both [login to view URL] and [login to view URL], in addition to monthly TNA “Pay-Per-View” results. In September 2005, I debuted my regular “Cygy’s Corner” column – which later became “Cygy’s View” – a column that became the most visited featured content on [login to view URL] in 2006. From February 2009 to October 2009, “Cygy’s Corner” returned when I wrote a monthly column in addition to various other articles for The Suplex Magazine out of the United Kingdom. Before entering the full-time New Media Design and Web Development at BCIT in October 2009, I graduated high school in 2007 at Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam. A year later in 2008, I first entered BCIT to initially study in their full-time Marketing Management program, before transitioning part-time to Broadcast Journalism at the beginning of 2009.
