The firm of Net Savant was founded in 1998 providing an in-house portal and e-commerce website which subsequently led to the objective of adding value to internet services by becoming content providers to various industries; developing websites and portals both of a general nature and for specific industries; designing, maintaining and hosting of websites. In the area of information technology, but not internet-related, Net Savant have developed software for specific sectors/industries and organizations. More recently, Net Savant set up and continues to run a domestic contact center for the Visakhapatnam District administration ‘Gyandoot’ which deals with information on government services, reporting of emergencies and information on Vizag District. The head office of Net Savant is strategically located in the downtown area of the fast-growing city of Visakhapatnam (Vizag). Net Savant has over 7 years of experience in the field of creating portals, websites, e-commerce sites and projects for private and public sector undertakings that involve integration of offline functions with an online presence. We have developed, hosted and continue to maintain over 200 websites for these clients. This has resulted in our being in a very strong position in terms of experience and expertise in related areas of database management, hosting on various platforms, handling of mail servers, content creation, promotions and revenue-generation. Experience in Developing and Maintaining e-governance web portals: In the field of e-governance, we started off with providing our services to Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation which has been using technology and the Internet to serve its citizens better under its project 'Saukaryam'. Project Saukaryam consists of the website '[login to view URL]' and also a Wide Area Network consisting of participating banks that accept payments at counters designated for this purpose and update the central server of the Corporation in real time. Incidentally, this website was the recipient the Best Municipal Corporation Website award from the National Institute of Urban Affairs and also a finalist for the prestigious Stockholm Challenge Award. More recently, the Computer Society of India adjudged the site the best site on e-governance. In practical terms, this website is providing a great service to the citizens of Visakhapatnam. We are present working with several other municipal corporations all over India and are developing a portal for Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. Experience in revenue-generation and developing revenue streams for portals: Having started as a small organization that has grown organically without any external sources of funding, for Net Savant revenue-generation has been as much a priority as growth.
