The shortcut: Pascal [P] Baumann – associating antilogies By combining elements of classic advertising with his own graphic visions, Pascal [P] Baumann has made his individual mark in Swiss marketing and communications. He strives for the visualization of the manifold shapes and colours in his mind, aiming at transforming commercial advertising into pieces of art. His works are eye-catchers with lasting character in the increasing graphical inundation of today’s disposable society. It is thus no surprise that Pascal [P] Baumann as non-member of ADC (Art Directors Club) was conferred the honour of designing the ACD-yearbook of advertising 2004 together with Julien Vonier, Roland Scotoni and André Benker. The book, bound in latex and titled Sklaven der Idee (“slaves to the idea”)—a provocative allusion to how creative people in advertising agencies are sometimes made to feel—sold so well it was immediately out of stock. P has bridged gaps between art and commerce, reality and fiction, passion and obsession. His works include assignments of clients such as Coca-Cola, Bombardier, Agent Provocateur and Carlsberg, to name but a few. More later...
