The company began in 1998 as a multimedia production and post-production outsource shooting white label music videos for MTVs late night experimental show AMP. By 2000 we were a comprehensive web development service as well, working mainly with brick and mortar businesses creating e-commerce solutions. Since then, Protoactive has adapted to new technologies to including advanced streaming media, mobile/tablet app development, blu-ray and DVD authoring and duplication, ROKU and other set-top appliance channel programming and design. We have always kept one foot in entertainment and the other in the nuts and bolts of UX, coding, visual design and best practices in all digital media strategies. This includes social media marketing as well as online course production and hosting. We also have full film and video production services ranging from feature film editing, voiceover work to multicamera event coverage (with crews) and yes, even complete film productions. We are located in Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Complete design and coding for online school that gives state licensed paralegal certifications. We used a PHP framework we created from scratch along with a protected flash video component to stream over 800+ hours of classes that were recorded live. Students who enrolled had to take each class in order and were graded automatically. The Testing Module was a timed system we built from scratch that had mandatory time requirements and automatically graded the student.

A complete customized payment processor was built from scratch to authorize use of the system using merchant account and paypal.

The backend was built on Linux Apache and the server delivered any one of the 800+ hours of encoded classes to end users. Thus our infrastructure had massive content optimizations that allowed for hundreds of users to be watching any class at any moment. In essence, we built a personal business cloud for the school.
