Consistent Fantasy Illustrations for Kids

Not recommended — repeated delays, incomplete work, poor communication. I hired this freelancer for 30 fantasy character illustrations for a children's book, with a clear requirement that faces, costumes, and colors stay consistent throughout. The experience was frustrating from start to finish. The project was estimated at about a day but dragged on for weeks. I was given new "tomorrow evening" deadlines multiple times, most of which passed with no delivery and no proactive update — I had to keep following up just to get a response. When I finally reviewed the completed images, faces were inconsistent between illustrations, costumes and colors didn't match across images, and in group scenes some characters were duplicated while others were missing — despite this being an explicit, repeated requirement. When I raised this, I was told the images were correct and asked to point to specific mismatches, even though problems were widespread. Before I'd had a proper chance to review deliverables, I was repeatedly pushed to release milestone payments quickly. Later delays were attributed to other client work and a family issue; I gave extra time both times, but updates stayed vague and deadlines kept slipping. After paying in full, I still don't have a completed, review-passed set of illustrations matching the requirements, months after the original one-day estimate. If you need reliable turnaround and consistent quality, I'd look elsewhere. BIG NO TO SHE
