Dr. Brian Smith is a control systems and software engineer. Previously, Dr. Smith was a PhD candidate at Georgia Tech's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, working at the Georgia Robotics and Intelligent Systems (GRITS) Laboratory and the Human-Automation Systems (HumAnS) Laboratory. He was co-advised by Dr. Magnus Egerstedt and Dr. Ayanna Howard. His graduate research focused on robotics engineering and control applications. While a graduate student, Brian built a robotic sensor network, while simultaneously developing novel control algorithms for multi-agent networks. His research was partially funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Brian received his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2007. He also received his BS in Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2004. During his undergraduate career, Brian assisted Dr. Alan Doolittle at the Advanced Semiconductor Research Facility at Georgia Tech, and Dr. Sung-Kyu Lim at the GTCAD Laboratory, earning a President's Undergraduate Research Award in 2004. Brian also worked as a Teaching Assistant for both an Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) course and a digital design laboratory course.
