Technical Skills ============================================================================= 1) Good understanding of cloud computing technologies and current major products. 2) Strong competencies in software system design 3) Applied project management knowledge. 4) Solid Java programming skills with more than 7 years of coding experience. 5) Familiar with OO programming design patterns and applied extensively. 6) Familiar with REST concepts and programming, and applied as basic principle in system service interface design. 7) Familiar with OSGi technology and OSGi based system design 8) Familiar with J2EE technologies, like JDBC, JSP, JNDI, etc. 9) Familiar with popular Ajax programming frameworks, such as Google Web Toolkit. 10)Solid python programming skills. PROJECT EXPERIENCE ============================================================================== Project Name: Business Process Migration Duration: 2007.2 - 2008.3 Description: This project explores the approach to dynamically migrate a running WS-BPEL process from an old version process model to a new version process model. This research involves a series of challenges, such as process model change analysis, instance-model compliance checking, and migration point determination etc. I am a key contributor to the algorithms design and system implementation. From this project, I obtained technical growth by taking deep research in the WS-BPEL engine product, and learned skills to collaborate with global research team and product team to achieve successful results. Our ideas and code were finally recognized by the product team and planned for product shipping in future release. Project Name: Cloud Virtual Solution Lifecycle Management Duration: 2008.4-Present Description: This project explores the innovative approaches for managing the lifecycle of virtual solutions in cloud environment. A virtual solution consists of multiple virtual appliances, which are wired together based the configuration dependencies of the products packaged in these virtual appliances. The developed asset can benefit the customers with shortened solution on-boarding cycle, unified views of solution monitoring, simplified solution management operations, and optimized resource usages. More specifically, the lifecycle of the virtual solution is managed in the following phases: a) Create: Individual virtual appliances made in this phase, with all the software products and systems packaged; b) Assemble: based on the product configuration dependencies, virtual appliances are wired together; c) Deploy: the virtual appliances contained in a virtual solution are deployed and the products inside the virtual appliances are activated into production state; d) Monitor: the real-time resource consumption status of the virtual machines (VM) and the products inside these VMs are monitored, the performances of the products are also displayed on dashboards; e) Manage: the topologies and availability of the virtual solution can be easily controlled, the virtual solution can also be scaled up or live migrated when experiencing poor performance. In this way, the TCO can be reduced, with less resource/energy consumption and guaranteed solution SLA. Job Role: Technical lead Project Name: Virtuoso Duration: 2010.1-present Description: This project is IBM Software Group’s (SWG) initiative of Websphere PaaS platform, which involves many top product team experts from world wide SWG/Research labs. This project offers a scalable PaaS runtime for applications, an extensible PaaS management agent framework, and simplified messaging and storage services, etc. In this project, our team is the key contributor to the PaaS management agent framework. We designed an OSGi based agent framework. This framework defines the solution model, the solution management bundle model, the approach to manage the bundle lifecycle, the approach to composite management functions as management patterns, etc. The framework enables a plug-and-play fashion of management functions that are extensions to our framework. We also implemented a set of PaaS management services as framework bundles that can perform the following management tasks for a typical J2EE solution based on IBM WAS and DB2: 1) solution topology;2) activation, which activates the software stacks inside VMs into running state; 3) performance monitoring and optimization, which captures the real time response time of the application and optimizes the performances with configured policies; 4) adaption, which can changes the software product configurations as needed. Job Role: Technical lead of the PaaS management agent framework. I lead the local team to design the agent framework and execute development cycles; I am also responsible for the collaboration with US SWG product team.
