Well, the fact is if your shop is on Plus and has access to the checkout. liquid file then you can add fields to the cart, Regarding the reporting side of things. The ability to add a custom report is available from the Shopify advanced plan or above, but adding a new custom field is something that is not possible at this time. No need to Upgrade to Shopify Plus
Having a custom checkout may mean you may not need to upgrade to Shopify Advanced or even Plus, which currently costs more than two grand a month. If there’s any checkout related feature you’d need to upgrade to get, you can just replace the checkout entirely.
