Hotel Logo re-design, icon only, clear specifications

Dear desginer,
I am working on the pre-opening of a new hotel in Austria and hence I am looking for a talented designer to change an already existing logo. The logo represents a groundhog (marmot) and should be adapted, as it is not quite suitable.
What needs to be changed:
Note: Please do not change the text, this will be done by myself. I need a re-design of the groundhog-logo only.
How it should be done:
1) It must remain in 2D, not 3D, and keep the existing color (red, unicolor)
2) It must be minimalistic (simple, not too precisely drawn)
3) It must be artistic and unique (unique design, re-design of the existing logo)
4) It must look friendlier (it is for a sport & family resort)
5) It must look smart (not like a cartoon!!)
6) It must look more like an original groundhog (the existing one looks like a rat)
Please find the following files attached:
Attachment1: This is the existing version of the logo. Please keep in mind to change the logo only and do not change the text.
Attachment 2, 3, 4: These are examples of an austrian groundhog. This is what the logo should represent.
Please keep in mind that the logo should be friendly and minimalistic and remind people of a groundhog.
