I have an existing application which scrapes the daily results for Tennis. I want you to copy this application and modify for NBA. This means that the framework, servlet, timertask is already done as well as the database layer. Your task is only that part of the timertask which deals specifically with scraping the html. For the scraping you must use the Jericho library to walk through the html and avoid regular expressions as much as possible. [url removed, login to view]
In order to submit the data to the database it is needed that you identify what is a team and score is, pretty obvious but i will show you where to find what on the page if needed.
Please set a bid price based only on writing an html scraper that extracts matches, teams, scores per quarter. Also tell me if you have done work like this before and if you can show any examples.
If i am interested in your bid i will provide the existing application for you to review and you will be given an opportunity to adjust your bid after having reviewed this.
I prefer someone who uses Eclipse as development environment and can connect to a subversion repository. I do not mind if you are not an expert or very experienced, the main thing is that you can communicate in plain english, have a general interest in sports, and are able and willing to provide code according to my example and not just do your own thing. I have a fair amount of similar work so there's a good chance of a number of follow-up projects.
Addition, just to be clear from the daily page i want all the matches consisting of: Date + 2 teams + 8 quarter scores, that's all.
