eventArtist is a software for the eventCatering industry. It was built in the early 2000s and has since had minor changes made to it.
The task is to ** Replace existing user interface**
We have engaged a designer to develop a new look for the software. This has been completed in HTML 5 and serves as a template. A final draft version of it is available at: [login to view URL]
The existing UI needs to be replaced with the new one. The templates will need to be used to generate appropriate icons and HTML. This new HTML will need to be integrated or linked to the existing codebase.
All code should be HTML 5 compliant and able to be accessed from any device.
Technology
• Java (JSP/Servlets) using Apache Tomcat 7.0.42
• PostgreSQL 9.2.4
• A version of the software is currently hosted on Amazon Web Services for demonstration purposes.

It is an exact copy of the Tomcat folder from AWS.
Structure of code
• Java code and JSP/HTML code are separated into JSP and WEB-INF folders.
• The code is organised in sections roughly related to the functionality. E.g. the event menu section is the EM/menu folder in the WEB-INF folder. The related JSP files are in the event/menu folder. Event = EM (Event Management)
• Model, View Controller approach is roughly used. Each section has a controller usually called “MainServlet” or “<Sectionname>Servlet”. It contains a hash table which has a list of functions (or commands) which call the business logic in a Java file and relate it to a particular JSP file.
Ideal candidates
• Have excellent English skills: at the level of English as a first language.
• Will be a small company or able to put together a small team. In part this is because we need reliability for future administration of the system.
• Will be able to taken on future work. This project will have a lot future work associated with it including expansion of functionality and maintenance. We need to ensure that the people we engage in this project will be able to have continuity.
