Hello,

I need a script that will grab screenshots of websites.

This is for a directory project of mine.

Examples:

So I have a PHP script that will accept website submissions. The script will then check via cURL if the site is responding and extract information like meta tags. Then it should also take a screenshot of the site. The screenshot should be resized (approx 160px width / 120px height) and saved to the database.

That's where you come in.

I can do the resize in PHP so a script that will take the screenshot and save it as JPEG file in a temporary directory is enough for me.

The script could be called from php via exec and return an appropriate an exit code in case of error.

Please state what solution you will be using (X-window session, xwd etc) and the technical requirements involved.

Please note that the script will run on a VPS.

I am not looking for a solution involving external scripts or calls to remote sites to outsource the job.
