Joomla - Denial of Service Hack Fix ([login to view URL])

An old plugin on an old Joomla website (1.6.x) is pulling a lot of page hits (upward of 300,000 a month and climbing). It started 2-3 months ago and is rapidly increasing ancd causing Resource Limit issues with the site.
The guilty file/URL is /plugins/system/plugin_googlemap2/[url removed, login to view] but even when I delete it, it still gets hits and still breaks my site.
I've found many references to it online (e.g. [url removed, login to view]). It seems quite common (plenty of forums with same issue) but I haven't found any fixes, and need it corrected ASAP.
