script to identify website availability

i have a couple of websites which i want to make sure is available. the script should run for every 15 minutes thru crontab to tell us if the website is available or not, if it is not available, then it should send an alert email to the admin team on the specific 'http error message with the error code' and a message to investigate further. i need a very simple script. please help.
