Problem in Woocommerce (wordpress) with cron job

Hello,
I have set a scheduled sales date for a few products. I have noticed that the scheduled end date doesn't work. The sales price is still displayed after the end of the sales period.
This product for example has a scheduled end date of 2015-08-07 but on 2015-08-09 the sales price was still displayed on the front end.

If I edit the product, *change nothing* and click update then the sales price is no longer displayed and the regular price is shown. This is very annoying because I have on average 15 products on sale and I need to remember to take them down... so there is no point in having a schedule if the schedule doesnt work.
After investigation it seems to be related to a cron job which runs on 1970-01-01.
