I'm a educator, writer, and attorney with experience in both higher education and law. I used to think of them as separate career paths but now realize they attracted me for the same reasons: they're intellectually rigorous fields that have challenged me as a thinker, writer, and researcher; they've pushed me to maximize my communication skills, especially in the areas of persuasion and interpersonal relationships; and they've allowed me to serve others in meaningful ways, finding solutions to immediate and pressing problems they face.
Whether I've been designing programs and classes for college students, explaining legal procedures to clients, conducting academic research, or teaching teenagers how to overcome their fears of public speaking, I've been motivated by clear communication, intellectual curiosity, and creative problem solving.
As the mother of four boys, I've been guided by those same principles and have learned how to be more patient, empathetic, and adaptable as well.
Whether at home or at work, a good day for me is a day when I've learned something new and the people under my care are better for it.
