The project was way over the time and had to be sent back to the developer over a dozen times to fix bugs. It simply wasn't tested before turning it over to us. So while we didn't pay more to freelancer, it cost us more than double the budget for QA on our end. I'm not talking sophisticated bugs, but rather basic things that should have been tested, which required our testing, then time to explain the problem (and in many cases the fix), only to get it back again with another set of bugs. It was very frustrating. We were really hoping to hire this freelancer again, but the attention to detail was just not there. Very buggy and little to no testing was done.
