greetings,
we have all backend server components completed already. we only require you to develop a client app and installer that will talk to our jabber IM server ([login to view URL]).
we are doing with this wxWidgets so our app can have native look and feel for the OS it's sitting on. windows client is most important. a mac client would be nice, but not essential.
and here's a semi-detailed spec of the app.
1. app gets launched either by its icon or by a tray icon (app can pop up from tray when you're pinged)
2. when app launches for first time, user sees welcome/setup screen which asks "what do you want to be known by?". that info is sent to server, and a JabberID (JID) is created
2a. advanced users can choose to enter their own existing JID and password and have the client app connect and use that account.
3. application then shows main screen which looks something like this: [login to view URL]
4. you would enter your support question in the top field... and results returned by the server would be displayed in the blank panel area on the right. (i still need to develop the look and feel for that)
for example, you would enter "i need help with printing in linux" and a list of resources and people will appear in the main panel area. you choose a resource and it opens in the same area. you choose a person, and their profile opens so you can read it.
5. if you'd like to begin a chat with that person, you click the 'chat' button and the chat begins in the same window.
6. once the chat is over, the session log is saved and made available in the left panel list, along with the documents and people returned by the search.
7. clicking on "experts" button at the far left shows me a list of bookmarked people in the thin panel, and a summary of who's online in the main panel.

8. clicking on "pages" button at the far left shows me a list of bookmarked wiki pages in the thin panel, and a summary recent wiki activity in the main panel.

9. clicking on "products" button at the far left shows me a list of bookmarked products (photoshop, MS word, etc..) in the thin panel, and a summary of product activity in the main panel.

10. clicking on "feeds" button at the far left shows
my list of bookmarked feeds in the thin panel and a summary in the main panel.
