Freelancers Wanted A monthly English language print and online publication based in East Java, Indonesia is looking to cultivate its pool of remote freelancers. Our magazine is “a resource for the creative entrepreneur,” and is therefore seeking reporters that have experience with business writing, who can also produce colorful articles that are entertaining to read. Our magazine covers icons, brands and ideas relevant to entrepreneurship in South East Asia. Our business model is quite streamlined, as we already conduct a great deal of our interviews and fact gathering remotely. What we need are more English language freelance reporters that are willing to also work remotely. Common stories may include: • Brand Profile: How a now internationally recognized company started up and how it became relevant to South East Asia. • Entrepreneur Profile: The in-depth story of an individual entrepreneur. For this we would expect that writers do a great deal of research, while also communicating with interview subjects via Skype, email or other technologies. • Ideas: This section is dedicated to other stories or articles related to entrepreneurship or startups. (example title: 8 Things Successful People do Before 8 am) New story pitches are always welcome, but typically we will arrange our table of contents ourselves, and then call upon the pool of freelancers to write the articles we specify. As a freelancer, you will receive payment no later than two weeks after we run your story. Your name will appear in the byline of your article in the magazine as well as in the contributors section along with a photo if you wish. You will also have a byline on our website and digital e-reader platforms. This is a great opportunity for new journalists to build their portfolio while also getting paid. Ideal qualifications: • Master’s degree in business, journalism, communications, entrepreneurship or other related field. • A 3.25 GPA or higher. • 3-5 years of professional journalism experience in the field. • Published work samples in business writing, journalism or entrepreneurship. • Published work samples directly related to Indonesia or South East Asia. • An understanding of the cultural, political and business landscape in Indonesia and South East Asia. Acceptable qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in business, journalism, communications, entrepreneurship or other related field. • A 3.25 GPA or higher. • 2-4 years of professional journalism experience in the field. • Published work samples that show competence in business writing. • Published work samples directly related to entrepreneurship Please inquire about an email address to send, CV, published work samples and cover letter.
