I do data mining / machine learning on business data - sales, marketing, customer behavior on eCommerce sites, etc. I started working with data in 2000 at a major mobile telecom here in Bulgaria, I left in 2007 to continue as a freelancer and last year I established a small consulting company. Since 2007 I've been using mostly various components of the hadoop ecosystem (including HBase), that I usually prefer because they have better integration and allow for greater 'openness' of data. In my experience when researching data it makes sense to be open to all sorts of 'angles' or 'view-points' on the data. I've also used Cassandra and other non-hadoop components. And I do develop API's to export services to web front-ends (in java). And of course, I'm always looking to find more opportunities to discover knowledge, truth and generally - what hidden factors determine the reality we observe. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a master degree. I have lots of industry experience in big data area. I worked at IBM, Twitter before. I know how to use hadoop 1.0 or 2.0 to process data. And I also use pig to analyze data. I use oozie to manage data pipeline. I have hands-on experience to use Amazon EMR. I also have lot of experience to use avro both on hadoop and pig. I used cascading and scalding before in case that you don’t use oozie. I think I will be a good fit for this role :)

I am currently working as a BigData Engineer at a media company in the Netherlands. I have already built several APIs for them using Python+Flask with various SQL and NoSQL backends. In this position, I am also managing a Cloudera Hadoop cluster and developing real-time processing systems using Storm. With HBase I also worked closely: my Master's project was about efficiently storing loading Semantic Web data in HBase; in addition I have a CCSHB (HBase certification from Cloudera). As a result I have a good understanding of HBase internals and how the choice of data model affects the scalability and performance of the system.
