Its the project about voltage and power factor control of a Isolated system using MATLAB.
In this project we have utilized semiconductor devices to make an efficient control of 3-phase
voltage. Our objective is to make a close loop controller which can track the desired voltage
level (Specified by the user or the Appliance rating) from the fixed supply voltage with
significantly less distortion level. We have made a Simulation of this model in MATLAB
SIMULINK by taking some standard values of filter parameters. We have used a two stage
power electronic converter here among which in the first stage it is a 3-phase uncontrolled
rectifier and the later stage is a 3-phase inverter. Between these two converters a link is there
known as D.C link, which is used for obtaining ripple free dc at the input side of the inverter.
The AC/DC converter i.e Rectifier is fed from Grid which is generally a 3-Phase supply and a
filter (Containing inductor and capacitors) is used along with it to reduce the ripple of the
voltage at the output of the rectifier. The DC/AC converter i.e Inverter uses a close loop
mechanism to maintaining the reference value. The purpose of the comparator is to make an
comparision between the actual value and the reference value and make an error between them

system we should concern about the Power Factor also. Before going into further details lets
make a quick review of Power factor terminology and its imporatnce in Power Systems.
In our project we have implemented a predicted power factor controller using static capacitor
along with an automated controllable A.C voltage controller whose output voltage is varying
according to our desired power factor and it makes improved the sending end power factor
irrespective of the load torque demand, thus by relieving the industry from the penalty of
lowering the power facto r.
