Fine-tune Server

Hello, Slowness on a dedicated server can result from many factors such as below ones (but not limited to): * intensive write I/O increase on server, may be due to increased traffic on hosting, logging change, robot attacks etc - you mentioned that log files are getting bigger - possibly automated scans/attacks if your legitimate traffic did not increase abnormally. Also HW related faults should be investigated * server settings (such as apache, database, php settings along with crontasks and backup jobs) may be causing long request times on server, for example if you use magento, indexing jobs create problems while you add products etc. * php versions and scripts on server along with database caching settings should be investigated to check for proper optimizations. * server security checks should be performed to see if there is any abnormal traffic on server including spam emails or bot activity. * mysql queries should be investigated to see if there are any Slow queries that cause php scripts hang and cause slow FTTB and responses. Actually there are many more checks that can be performed, i am a honest, reliable and hardworking guy. I can check the server state and can try to fix the issue. Hello, First of all, good choice for soyoustart I follow ovh since 10 years already and saw and tested almost all products ovh, kimsuffi, soyoustart. Actually i have some servers of mine at soyoustart. I'm a system administrator both Linux and windows and since 7 years I manage servers for little/middle size companies. You can check my profile to see my reviews on past jobs. About the space issue, need to understand from where the issue is comming. Often people's don't setup the logrotate and the log files stays uncompressed and take much space. Also when using npm tools to run some projects, it often left many temporary files behind. In all cases need to check logs. And make some analysis on files and paths wich take place. Maybe write some bash scripts to clean and add them to cron. First of all the logs needs to be reviewed. Either their growing big because there is some obvious problem, or the logging is set to be too verbosive, which will impact on server performance. This needs to be investigated in the first place.

I will find out what type of server you are using, Apache Web Server, Tomcat or JBoss. And if you have data layer, what type of DB or LDAP you have. And I need access to your log files to see if anything abnormal and where the slowness really happened at. From there I can provide some hypothesis and solution options. The log file getting bigger may indicate that there were spikes in the number of incoming requests, or there might be some errors processing requests, or it could be just a matter of log file rotating.
