I need a little "black box" .NET application that monitors a specified folder for a new file to be added (these will be xml files added via FTP). When a new file is added, the contents of the file should be inserted into a MSSQL database (field datatype is xml). Upon completion, a notification should be sent via email; In the event of an error, the error message should be sent via email. The application should continue monitoring the folder and loading files until it is manually terminated. There should be a config file for specifying: 1. which folder should be monitored 2. the pattern of the insert statement with {0} or similar to be replaced by file contents 3. the email address to send notifications to 4. the subject line of the success email 5. the contents of the success email with {0} or similar to be replaced by the name of the file 6. the subject line of the fail email 7. the contents of the fail email with {0} or similar to be replaced by the name of the file and {1} to be replaced by the error message If anything is unclear, please ask. I need this done quickly -- please only reply if you can deliver quickly.

I've done similar apps before. Can deliver in about a day (12-24 hr) if the specifications on the insert statements (pattern and such) and SMTP server are provided (.NET can't send emails by itself, it only uses a SMTP server provided by an external server/service). Can do, and quickly.

I will make a .net based exe that will reside itself to system tray . The configuration window will be appeared when right click on system tray icon. The exe will constantly try to look for any new file added to the folder and as soon as any change happens,it will email and save to sql server. Please PM so that we could discuss about SQL table structure. What is exact deadline ?

Hi I have developed an application similar to the one you are asking on another project which was a windows service that monitored a particular folder and when a CSV. file was dropped into the folder the contents were sent to MSSQL. It wouldn't take much time at all to do this for .XML files and send an email. I have 8 years developing .NET applications and I believe I have the necessary skills for this project.
