Help get me started with CodeBlocks

I'm a developer with my roots in Pascal, VB old-fashioned C and PHP (LAMP/WAMP). Lately, I got the desire to build cross-platform apps and looked for ways of using my old C skills in VB-like visual environments. After looking at options, I decided to use CodeBlocks. Now I find that I don't have the time to read through the many docs and forums right now. I need to make a quick decision about whether I should continue on this platform/framework. I've installed it but can't go any further - cannot compile due to missing files, wrong paths, etc. I'm referring to WINDOWS XP. What I need: 1. You have to help me setup (i.e., configure) CodeBlocks. May involve setting paths/config files... 2. Show me how to make a simple program that does the task below: Input name in a textbox. Print the length of the name in another textbox. Use TWO other textboxes to input 2 numbers. When a command button is clicked, the two numbers must be added and the sum shown in another textbox. Finally, show me how to connect the codeblocks program to a database - mysql. There is no need to configure lamp/wamp. It's all done. Thank you in advance Khalid ## Deliverables 1.
