111387 Software Integrated W/ Site DB

I'm developing a network marketing website, and I need software developed that my members can download that will provide instant or daily notifications when new messages are received. Once running, the program should send a post to a PHP script on the server (a script that I can write myself, which should be totally unseen to the user) to see if there are unread messages for the user in the database. The post will simply contain the username and password of the user. The script will simply output a 1 or a 0. 1 means new (unread) messages, 0 means no new messages. This should be VERY easy, I'd think. So, the software should be able to read the output, and act accordingly. The program should have an icon in the taskbar, and a notification should pop up from time to time to let the user know that they have new messages in the system. The user can then click a link in the notification window to be taken to the website's login page. If nothing is clicked for, say, 5 seconds, the notification will disappear automatically. It will be displayed again every 2 hours (or whatever) until one of the links is clicked. User Preferences defined immediately after installation: - User's first name - Site's username and password (which should be encrypted using my existing algorithm before being sent to the server during new message checks. It's a PHP encryption algorithm but it hopefully won't be a problem to encrypt, and then decrypt using PHP by the script) User Preferences that can be edited manually later on: - ALL installation-defined preferences - Whether to start the program when the system starts (defaults to YES) - Whether to notify on new (unread) messages, or daily digest (no more than once per day). If digest is selected, this notification will continue to be displayed periodically until something is clicked, like I said before, but once something is clicked, the notification will not be displayed again until the next day (if there are new messages after being clicked) - Whether to automatically check for updates (so this will have to be programmed into the software). - An option to automatically download program updates. if this option is checked, the UPDATE AVAILABLE notification window will be replaced with a UPDATE READY TO BE INSTALLED window, which when clicked, will install the new update. INSTALLS & UPDATES The sofware should allow the user to change the installation folder. It should also create a folder for the software in the Start Menu containing the software shortcut, a Help file shortcut, and an Uninstall shortcut. For updating, it will simply send a post containing the current version number to another script on the server, and if the new version number is higher than the current one, the script will output a 1, otherwise a 0. If an update is available, the software will popup an UPDATE AVAILABLE notification window. Once clicked, the system will download the new update. I would LOVE for updates to be installed by the software itself, rather than by the user having to navigate to the software folder and click on the downloaded update file. Maybe the software will automcatically close after the download is complete and auto-run the update file. That's fine. The new update should cleanly replace the old version without the loss of Preferences. It'll be great if there doesn't have to be a separate Update program, meaning if there's just one file, that would be great. If the software is already installed (meaning this must just be an update), the sofware will proceed to update the current installation. If the software is not installed, it will proceed with a new installation. COMPATIBILITY I would REALLY like for this program to be compatible with all versions of Windows (including XP SP2) AND Mac, but Mac isn't absolutely required if not possible. MISCELLANEOUS The software file should be fairly small in size (hopefully no larger than 5MB) and easily installed. I'd like a REALISTIC turnaround time, because I'll expect it to be done around when you say it will. Doesn't have to be to the day, but shouldn't be 2 weeks later, either. I hope this is it.
