RealBasic web application

SUMMARY: Create a website that allows users to create and print 4"x6" cards with encoded information for use in devices for non-verbal (mute) children. A text-based web interface that allow users to enter text data that they want encoded and the web application to generate a barcode in a PDF file that users can download and print out on 4"x6" cards. The program is straight forward as explained below, the only complicated part is interfacing with the DLLs but the manufacturers of the DLLs provide sample VB programs which you can basically copy over to RealBasic. ## Deliverables 1. User enters a file name for the card they are creating, then selects from a pull-down menu and chooses 1 of 10 forms available. User then click "Create" and the selected text form displays. The text form could contain as few as 2 or as many as 55 text entry boxes, depending on the form selected. 2. User inputs the text strings into these boxes and click "Save". 3. Program check to see if any of the reserved (non-allowable) characters are used in the inputted strings, if found, delete them and advise user. A check is also made to see if the total number of allowable characters has been exceeded, if so, give user a chance to remove some characters. If all is OK, then generate a header string based on the totality of the inputted text strings containing information such as: - the text form selected, - total number of bytes, - checksums of the strings etc. Create a final one long string which contains the header string followed by all of the inputted text strings delimited with "|". Note, strings may be longer than 255 characters and may contain the full 255-character set (use character arrays??). Send this string through a third-party barcode DLL to generate a barcode image. 4. Get the generated barcode image in memory and send it to a third-party PDF DLL to create a PDF page. The barcode image has to be centered at X and Y print offset (specified by the user) in the created PDF page. We need to maintain 300 DPI resolution on the barcode image for printing. The X and Y print offset should be stored as a cookie on the user's computer as it will be specific to his particular printer and will not need changing frequently. In addition to the barcode image, there will be one or two lines of human readable text messages such as file name and unique file ID, date and time stamp etc. This information along with the actual string used to generate the barcode should be stored in a simple flat file (for adminstrator access only). 5. Open a new window and display the generated PDF so that user can download it and print it out. If there are any changes that the user wishes to make, they should be able to make the changes and re-create a new PDF without having to re-enter all the text strings that is already there (unless users specifically clears the screen). See attached PDF for an example of generated output file. Below are the two DLLs, one for performing the Aztec barcode encoding and one for PDF creation. I have not purchased either of them yet. Both companies offer working demo that can be downloaded, plus they include sample VB applications which can basically be copied over. Once you are satisfied that they work properly during your code testing, then I will purchase them. GENERAL REQUIREMENT Program to be written in RealBasic 2005 for Windows. We want English and Spanish user interface so the program should be written to easily support multiple language user interface, but for now, just use English prompts also for Spanish and I will modify them later. I should be able to test the program locally on my Windows XP desktop PC with Apache webserver (or specify what you would recommend before bidding). When program is completed, please do an actual installation on a server on the internet, you will be given a web address and server access. We will require a standard NDA signed if you are the winning bidder (we can send you a copy in advance if you wish). DELIVERABLES (in addition to standard Deliverable clauses below): A well documented RealBasic program source code plus executable. Detailed instruction for server installation.
