This project is a 5-page web site (plus flash intro) for a new client of ours. The client owns a bike shop in Canada that sells and services mountain and street bikes. Listed below are detailed specs for the project. One requirement that we have is that you either do your work on our web server or occasionally upload your work there so that we can have our client preview the work there. We do not want to divulge to the client that we are outsourcing this work. We are a Christian company and I can assure you we would never steal your work. However, we are willing to put up money in an escrow account if desired to give you more confidence. If this requirement is not agreeable to you, please do not bid.
Deadline for completed site: January 27, 2006
Maximim bid accepted: $500
General design/site comments:
1) A custom look, not a generic boxey design
2) Easy to read and navigate
3) Not too busy, but still engaging
4) Store logo/banner on tops of all pages (banner provided)
5) Product Special "Box" on EACH page that cycles through the current monthly specials (changing to new item every few seconds) and links to the monthly specials page. Besides the photo, it should also feature a short description and sales price. This info should probably go into a MySQL database.
6) Note: There will be no e-commerce on this site.
For your informaion, here are a list of other biking sites that the client very much admires:

Preferred colors: Sky blue
Site Structure (6 pages):
1) Flash intro
Flash intro should consist of some type of slide show of cool bike images/graphics and titles plus music. Images will be of bikes and accessories that the client offers for sale. The intro should play on a page by itself before the visitor enters the rest of the site and should have cool transition effects. There should be links to "Skip intro", "Replay", and "Enter Site" underneath the intro. Client would like some music playing in the background of the Flash intro. His music preference is Reggae (such as Roots Reggae played on on [login to view URL] with DJ Bahilman in iTunes) or something "nature sounding".
2) Main/front page
In the main content area of the front page, client would like a creative blending of these graphical elements:
Photo of nice mountain scene with a biker
Photo of a fast looking Road bike in a race
Photo of a freeride bike jumping a cliff or something
Logos of the following Bike and accessory companies: (Bike) Cannondale, Jamis, Gary Fisher, KHS, GT, Banshee, Orange, Yeti, Intense, Cove (Quesnel Store only), Lemond, Cervello, Titus, Scott USA; (Accesories) Danger Boy, Azonic, Race Face, Dakine, Camelback, Giro, Bell, Daniese, Roach, Marzocchi, Fox, Rock Shocks, Manitou. These logos should each link to their respective web sites. Maybe a collage could be made of the three photos and the logos placed on top of the collage or around the border or something... Be creative. (We can help provide the action biking photos if you do not have access to any).
Also on the front page of the site should be a small section dedicated to "The Rack Chalet", another separately marketed business which stocks the full line of Thule and Yakima cargo systems. For this small section, find a photo of a vehicle with a rack carrying a Canoe and maybe a bike on a rack. Also display the Thule and Yakima logos and link to their respective sites. This section is of lesser importance and should probably go on the bottom or side.
Somewhere on the front page you also need to have a link to a private login at Quality Bicycle Products. This will take visitors to a site where they can place orders for bikes and accessories (will provide the URL later).
Lastly, the client mentioned possibly having "a picture of his storefront in the corner of the screen on the homepage, sort of at an angle, not just a square photo tucked in the corner, but set in a scene of its own with no border around it so it just kind of blends into the homepage, sort of a faded border from the home page color to the rest of the page" (his words). If we can work a storefront photo into the front page, great. If you can't do it without making it look stupid, don't worry about it.
3) Monthly Specials
This page will have photos, descriptions, and prices for current monthly specials. There will be as many as 3 pages of specials with 9 products featured on each page. For each product you will have a borderless picture with a short description and the sale price. Client will need to have a backend area to be able to change out the monthly specials. Thus you probably want to use a MySQL database for this area. Note: this page will not have the "Monthly Specials" box on the side of the page that rotates the specials since the specials will be featured on the page itself.
4) History
This page will give the history of the store and tell about its owner and employees.
5) Photo album
This page will contain photos of the interior and exterior of the store and perhaps other things later. Will need a way for the client to add/edit/delete photos from this section, if necessary. Perhaps use a MySQL database for this.
6) Contact Us
This page will contain contact information as well as directions to the store. Perhaps use another picture of the storefront on this page.
That's it. If you have questions, please PM me, and I will give further detail. Bear in mind that we are actively seeking long-term relationships with one or two skilled web designers, as we are getting too busy to handle our design workload, so a job well done here could mean future business. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
