BLIXT International, Inc is seeking an intelligent, motivated jack-of-all-trades programmer/software engineer to integrate and operate a network combining social networking, e commerce and LBS. The short term need is for someone versed in server-side Java programming and SQL, to complement our J2ME client development. Over the course of the next year, responsibilities of the position may include any of the following:
Client-side development for mobile platforms based on javascript/CSS and ports for iPhone and Android
Server-side development to complement the mobile clients
Web application development -- both customer-facing apps, and internal administrative apps Linux shell and SQL scripting, to support the data acquisition and publishing aspects of the organization
The skills profile of our "ideal" candidate is as follows:
Programming Languages: Java; C++; SQL; JSP/HTML; XML/XSL; PHP; javascript; Linux scripting (bash, Perl, or similar), Android; Objective C
Development Tools: Eclipse IDE; Bugzilla; CVS or subversion; Ant; TWiki
Frameworks/Libraries: J2EE (primarily JSP, JDBC, servlets); J2ME; Struts; Spring; JUnit; Qt
Server Software: PostgreSQL, Tomcat (or JBoss w/ Tomcat); Apache; Google Maps/Ovi Maps
Operating Systems: Linux, preferably administrative experience (at a minimum, must be comfortable working at the command line)
Programming Skills: Strong object oriented designer; multi-tiered web application architecture; test-driven development (JUnit); secure database design; network programming (TCP/IP); versed in regular expressions; secure APIs
System Admin Skills: Linux, Apache, Tomcat, SSL, PostgreSQL, LAN setup/management
Highly Desirable Experience: programming for e commerce with transactional updates and system-generated alerts; application development for mobile;
Blixt is moving quickly through an exciting new software terrain, and requires people who can keep apace with the shifting needs of this environment. This job will make demands of your entrepreneurial spirit, as well as your ability to speak coherently (and sometimes, argue persuasively) with the rest of the team.
Candidates must be willing to work on-site and at home, and responsiveness to priority tasks is essential. Casual organization with flexible hours and a close-knit team. This is a contract to permanent position.
