Use PHP to interpet a complex XML file (or CSV)

I have an XML file which is an exported SAGE report for customer statements. Mostly SAGE exports statements as PDF, but the problem is it exports one huge PDF for all customers which as you imagine is difficult to cut-up for individual customers. I'm assuming that the XML file (or the CSV version) can be interpreted using PHP and be cut-up into individual statements using PHP and possibly inserted into a MySQL database.
I need someone with excellent knowledge of parsing PHP (don't give me the standard examples from PHP tutorials, I've tried all of them, but this XML file has many nested tags and attributes).
I've attached a sample of the XML file (and the CSV version) and its PDF version.
This should be a simple 1 day job for an expert.
