The name of my business is Optimal Beam and I provide web-based application subscription service. The service is for engineers and it is basically a calculator were you solve a problem (beam model) and then the application solves the problem and provides results. I want to give the user the option to download the results in a pdf format. I am using a Canvas, table, and charts from d3.js. Can you please provide me with a proposal for how this can be achieved?

Hi there, Your best bet would be to use a headless browser to generate the pdf and then stream it to the client. If the charts can be rendered server side, you could also try FPDF and the like. (And apparently, you could use PhantomJS to run a node server that would render d3.js code but I am unsure of the results). Best,

Recently I did a project for a NY client to convert invoices to PDF format which were later emailed to client. However their current system was using Htmltopdf() JavaScript function. Although it worked somewhat correctly in many browsers it was not displaying page breaks or the images and lines were distorted. So I suggested a solution to transfer the data to be converted to PDF and the I used FPDF on the server side to generate the PDF. That way the PDF generation is independent of the browser issues. Each browser generates differently. Thanks and looking forward to hear from you.
