I would like to work on your project, but I really need same/more info about. What you shown in the picture attached, is a Gantry feeder/crane... you need the robot to have the same architecture?... Will be necessary to know a lot more details - how the boxes need/should/want to be grabbed, what kind of boxes, weight, travel (including speed), how to empty the boxes, etc, etc. For any more questions we could chat here. I would like to propose myself for your project. If I understand correctly, you want an automatic machine to take and move water tanks. For this your project I thought to make a Cartesian manipulator that moves on the X and Z axes through pneumatics. The Z axis will have a pneumatic gripper to grip the water tanks.
