I have a web store on Wix at the moment that is more of a problem for me than a solution. I sell a self-published book, in both printed and digital PDF versions, both current and past years editions. My Wix site works and buyers can purchase what they need but it's far too inefficient and shipping is a big problem.
I only have a handful of products to sell, within three permanent collections (current-year, previous printed editions, and previous PDF editions). That's it. Plus a few other pages explaining what my book is, sample PDF pages and how to mail/phone order as well. Here are the two problem I need to solve, and my understanding is that Wix cannot do either of these things.
1) If customer buys a physical (printed) book and a digital PDF copy they get a big discount. The problem is, when they do this I have to manually email them the PDF file, which can take hours or even days. digital-only is no problem, but I need automatic fulfillment of digital orders regardless of the product is a standalone PDF file or a combination of PDF+Print.
2) Shipping. I ship using Endicia, and since I ship books, I am able to use the United States Postal Service's "Media Mail" option. I do not want to move away from Endicia since they are the only ones who offer Media Mail from a home printer. Wix does not integrate with Endicia, and I have to copy-paste every single order, line by line, from Wix into Endicia. I just got 350 orders in a week and copy-paste is not an option. I believe that Shopify does offer Endicia integration, but I need to see this in action and thoroughly understand what it does, and what limitations are involved. This is the most important part of the entire project.
3) The site looks horrible. The previous designer really didn't understand what I sell or how to do good design. Yes, it works (and works well) but it's not good looking. This part of the project I'm not as concerned about since, like I said, it works. Bundling digital+physical and Endicia integration are the two major elements of this project.
