I have 15+ yrs. experience of osCommerce/opencart/zencart/wordpress/woocommerce. It is not possible to upgrade existing installation to latest version of oscommrce and the structure of files are different in the 2 versions. To upgrade, you ned to start with fresh installation, add any customisation or modules from existing site to new site and then import data from live to new site.
