We are seeking an experienced Windows Server 2016 administrator to provide ongoing support and maintenance for our server infrastructure. The server is primarily used for hosting 8 websites on IIS, and it also includes MS SQL Express databases that require regular backups. The job does not involve coding; however, expertise in server maintenance, updates, and security is crucial. Responsibilities: IIS Support: Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to IIS for 8 hosted websites. Ensure optimal performance and uptime for all websites. SQL Server Management: Perform regular backups of MS SQL Express databases. Verify and test database backups to ensure data integrity. Server Maintenance: Conduct routine server maintenance tasks. Apply necessary updates and patches to keep the server secure. Security Management: Implement and maintain security best practices for the server. Monitor for security threats and take appropriate actions. Requirements: Proven experience as a Windows Server 2016 administrator. Expertise in managing IIS for hosting websites. Experience with MS SQL Express database backups and maintenance. Strong knowledge of server security best practices. Ability to perform routine server maintenance tasks and apply updates. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Contract Duration and Payment Terms: Contract Duration: The contract will be annually renewed based on mutual agreement. Payment Terms: Payments will be made on a monthly basis at the end of each month. No advanced payment will be provided. Greetings! I offer you my skills for your task. I have long term (15+ years) skills for administration windows based web servers (from 2008 and up to 2022). I'm expert for MS SQL SERVER (full stack - from standard administration tasks and up to t-sql coding for stored procesdures, user functions, triggers and etc). I have long term skills for support multisite based IIS. Regarding serever security - this question depend from your system condifuration. in case your server locared behaind firewall/router almost security procedures wil be realised on router level (such as port forwarding, set access restriction by IP for non-public area). If your server connected to the internet directly - configured firewall must be like everything is prohibited that is not open conception. Critical data must be under daily backup (I mean all MS SQL SERVER database and IIS): one copy can be located on server, one copy - onto another server, for example into my server (will be done by special script and running by SQL Agent of MS SQL SERVER on regular basis) and last copy - offline created by you (like standard sownloaded copy from server). Best option to have antivirus software (like Malwarebytes or similar). Monitoring any critical event in Windows log ( i can create special script for reveiving alert via email about). Anyway all activity will be done as per your server configuration. Of course - regular update (usually each second Tuesday of the month) and daily for Defender (if any).
