RESTful WHOIS API Written in Node.js, Restify

Hello again Dan, I just sent you an email before noticing your invite to this project, so don't worry about that one. Anyways, I'll restate my intentions for this project and I hope I got the bid amount right, I can't remember what it was previously. I intend to build a simple REST API, or rest API route if you already have a system in place, which will take a domain name as the last entry in the URI. The API will then use this domain name to query both the IANA and WHOIS databases for raw data on that domain. The data will then be parsed with the help of regex and structured into an object based on your specifications or by attempting to match the example you provided. The object will then get stringified and returned to the requester as JSON. I intend to use Node and Restify. Also, I prefer to use reduce()/all()'ed promise returning function arrays for asynchronous programming but if you would like me to use a different/more familiar approach that would be okay. Edit: I also just noticed you requested Restify rather than Express. Looking at the documentation it seems Restify is indeed more suitable and will be pretty easy for me to pick up on my own time so it won't effect my bid, I actually prefer to learn new technologies!

Hi. So, basically you need an API that allow to query whois data for a specific domain? I also suggest to use some cache DB(like Mongo) which saved the results of the whois query to DB. Imagine that someone query the same domain multiple time, why to query WHOIS server all the time while we can store it in DB and get from DB easily speeding the REST API. We can have some expire time for the entry in DB(let say keep in DB only for 1 day). Do you have a domain setup so that we can easily do test with api.youdomain... . Also, on which OS you plan to run this? Let me know what you think about this and we can start.
