webDate matchfinder modification

webDate (<[login to view URL]>) is the software behind my Client’s dating site, and she wants to modify its “matchfinder?? feature to fit her needs better. I’m using a Bulletin Board posting because I want to maintain my excellent record as a Buyer, and am not sure if there are any webDate specialists here at RAC. We’re also willing to consider someone who doesn’t have specific webDate experience, but can prove that he/she can guide us through the process of modifying this PHP-based tool, which is integrated with aMember, [login to view URL], ListMailPro, and PostAffiliatePro. In other words, it’s not a vanilla installation!! Once I’ve identified if there are qualified bidders out there, I’ll post this as a regular RAC Bid Request and ask them (you?) to create a bid. It’s very likely that we’ll have further work for the winning bidder, since my Client’s site has been around for 6 years and is really taking off!! So… if you were to take on this Project, what would be your first questions? If you’ve been at this as long as we have, you know how much one can tell from the questions that are asked… ;o) Thanks for playing! ~ Scott ## Deliverables - * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Friday Jun 20, 2008 4:02:09 PM: Okay, now that we have a few responses and I know it's worth it, I'll describe how we want for the matchfinder to work - not sure exactly how it works in webDate, so some of this may be default functionality: *** once per week, a message is sent to all members (we have free ("basic") and paid ("premium") membership) *** that message would be very similar to those from Yahoo Personals and [login to view URL] as far as content and layout (I have examples for each) *** each e-mail would contain 10 matches: geographically close, age within target range specified in profile *** eventually would also like to match on "interests" and "have/want children", so may be best to build in right away..... The biggest question for me is how to do geographical matching. Ideally, the scenario would be: *** first e-mail = the 10 people who are closest to me and are in my target age range *** second e-mail = the next 10 farther away people who are in my target age range *** third e-mail = the next 10 farther away people who are in my target age range ..... and so on, up to a range of, say, 250 miles (which, I realize, may only be one or two e-mails, since the database only contains 13,000 people) *** then, say I received five e-mails, and now all of the people in my target age range within 250 miles have been listed, so..... sixth e-mail = the 10 people who are closest to me and are within 4 years (higher and lower) of my target age range *** seventh e-mail = the next 10 farther away people who are within 4 years (higher and lower) of my target age range *** eighth e-mail = the next 10 farther away people who are within 4 years (higher and lower) of my target age range ... and so on, up to a range of 250 miles. Another interesting point is that NEW members should automatically be included in the results, if they're "less than or equal to" the current criteria - so if the current e-mail lists people from 100 to 150 miles away, and a new member joins who is 50 miles away, the new member would be displayed. There's some real logic to work out here, I realize, so I'm just trying to give you a flavor of our thinking - would probably be necessary to talk through all of the possibilities on the phone.
