I need VB6 or VBA code to connect and read data from a TOPCON RM-8000B AUTO REFRACTOMETER
this is a machine that is used by Optometrists to test eyes.
It has RS232C input and output terminals
The process is the patient is selected on the Ms Access database he/she is then seated in front of the Auto refractor the patient’s eyes are tested on the Auto refractor and when the print button on the Auto refractor is pressed the Auto refractor will send the data to the RS232C output terminal.
?
**Your primary task**
You are required to provide the VB6 or VBA code to read the data from the RS232C output terminal and present it to the MS Access table for import from a .csv .txt or any delimited format or write it directly into the MS Access table.
?
For the first round of this project I only need the primary task to be completed but it would be nice if can have the secondary task as well.
**Secondary task**
I would like to send the InstrumentNo, WorkID, PatienNo and whether the patient wears Specs to the Auto refractor via the RS232C Input terminal (this information is found in the Ms Access table) or I can send the data to a file named “[login to view URL]? whichever is easier for you to read the data into the Auto refractor via the RS232C Input terminal
?
I have attached a sample [login to view URL] and the [login to view URL] file with some sample data in and [login to view URL] this is an extract from the actual TOPCON RM-8000B AUTO REFRACTOMETER manual.
?
I trust there is someone that has done this already.

Good morning to you all Sorry for the extension. As you probably have heard here in South Africa we have just had a national presidential election that caused a lot of public holidays to give all the people a chance to go and vote. At least the election was mostly fair and very peaceful. The reason I am extending the deadline is because I am having some trouble getting a better copy of the communication protocol from the manufacturers. I have a bad copy of a fax and I am trying to get a better copy that we can read so that I can scan or retype it to give to you to use. If you have a copy of this model’s communication protocol please let me know. Blessings Danie
