Ongoing Wordpress Website Developer

We require a contractor to work with on an on-going basis, to help develop and maintain our website. Our website will be hosted on a VPS (still to be migrated to the server at time of writing), and is built in word press. We are a small company, so budget is important, however quality is also very important. We will have lots of work on a regular basis for the right candidate, but we expect the fee to be reflective of the fact that this will be an ongoing contract, and so should be charged less than a one off project of similar scope and time. We would require a formal process for changes to be made, and a formal sign off process. We are a small team here, so this process must be adequate to ensure quality, but not too bureaucratic that things don't get done efficiently. The candidate may suggest a process for this. Internally, we are adapt at using Google Sheets and Google Docs regularly, so this may be an appropriate tool to use for the management of the project. SECURITY Proper security measures must always be taken. all work needs to be completed on a staging server which will need to be setup within our hosting environment. Good coding practices will need to be adhered to such as regular backups both prior and post development as well as the staging server environment locked down from any search engine activity. All other best practice security measures must be adhered to. Our reliance on plugins is minimal and we would expect the developer to hard code necessary, unless there are compelling reasons not to do this, which will then need to be signed off by the management team RESPONSIVENESS Our website is mobile responsive, and any changes made must be designed to work perfectly, and look good on all major devices and browsers. We will work with the contractor to draw up a list of devices and browsers that any website amendments must support. ATTENTION TO DETAIL It is very important that our website is developed well to match the designs that we will provide. We expect that there will be exact alignment, so that the developed pages are an exact reflection of the designs provided. SPEED The speed of the website must always be considered, and we should use best practice compression techniques for images and media, to ensure that the site continues to load fast. We would be looking for the maximum possible optimisation, without reducing quality in terms of load times using standard services such as standard compression techniques as well as Google developer tools, Pingdom, Gmetrix etc. AVAILABILITY Our main office hours are 8am - 7pm Mon-Fri UTC, however our customers may browse our website 24/7, so it is vital that this developer is able to respond quickly if there are any emergency issues that need to be resolved. Honesty and accuracy is very important to us. We want a developer that will take the time to set our expectations correctly, provide advice where appropriate and be very knowledgeable of best practices and standards with website development. KEEPING UP It is important that as technology evolves, our website adapts to this. The ideal candidate will keep up to date with industry trends, changes in devices and best practice updates. They should be looking ahead at changes that are upcoming, and advise us on changes that should be made to ensure our website is not 'left behind'. OTHER TOOLS WE USE - Mixpanel - Google Analytics - Optimizely A cloudflare account is available, but not currently in use. Last time we used it, updates were not propagated straight away for some reason, so we ended up not using it.
