Hello, I'm very interested on your project, as software engineer I would like to help you. We are facing few problems I can describe at least two. The distance between hands and the camera sensor. The camera lens, not all the cameras has the same len focus. We can measure the finger but it won't be always accurated. Anyway, I have a simple solution for this, take a photo of your hand with a rule at the side, no need to measure your finger with the rule, we just need the rule image at the same distance as your hand is from the camera, so we can determine the space size accurately. I have done measurement projects before, and I would be privileged if you can check my profile for the clients' reviews indicating the professionality with which I deliver. It is however unclear from the description you provided how you intend to make reference correspondence between a physical dimension and its pixel length in the picture(s). Generally, there are three possible ways: 1) The easiest of them is to always locate an item (a coin, ruler..etc) of known dimension in the image. 2) Going more complicated, is to use stereo imaging rig and generating a disparity map. 3) The most versatile approach is with deep learning, where we train a model on how to induce dimensions from a single image. I have done projects with all three approaches, as such I hereby place for your consideration this proposal to deliver for USD 250.
