Translation of a Scholarly Article

Select a scholarly article and translate it into a press release for a general audience. Condense (summarize) the information from the article into a two-page release for a potential audience that may publish the results in news venues. After selecting and reading the article, do a prewriting that identifies the rhetorical context (topic, author, audience, and purpose) and the SLR conventions (structure, language, and reference) of the work. See the sample translation on pp. 133-136 in your text. Follow the heading format on p. 133, and include a link to the full article at the end of the release, and an MLA style works cited page. Tips You are writing a summary of the article for a non-academic audience. This will affect your rhetorical choices: consider the author, topic, audience, and purpose as you are writing the translation. Source for scholarly articles: Go to NC Live and click on "Articles", and then select "ProQuest Central." Put your topic in the search box and make sure that "Peer Reviewed" is checked.
