Flash Actionscripting Project

We have a flash application created but it's not doing exactly what we need. What we have created is a flash application that loads in images from an xml document and then randomly transitions between images. The flash application is working but the transitions between the images is not working the way that we want. Right now each image fades out then the screen is white and then a new image fades in. It's easy to see that once function is taking place(the image is fading out) and then the screen is white, then a new function is call and a new image fades in. What we want is for when one image is loaded another image transitions in smoothly and it does not appear like on function ends(background goes white) and another function begins.
