I need help implementing offline detection for my IOT device + app. The app changes values/settings in the firebase realtime database, then the IOT device checks and updates itself based on any changes. I need to be able to notify the app/smartphone when the IOT device is unexpectedly disconnected. Right now it is a simple android app + hardware is based on ESP32, I can work with you on those areas, mostly looking for a firebase expert.

Hello, What detection method you prefer to use? I recommend to use "ping" method where your script will send a small request and the device will response. Or use heartbeat method where the device will regularly send the status. Which one you prefer? Best Regards, Khamid
