Hello.
I share the following story not just to convey the facts, or even to declare my passion for editing, but to illustrate my ability to make an enjoyable, engaging, informative read out of some rather basic facts:
"I have been editing pretty much everything since I was 12, in 1984! At that time, my family had to move in with my aunt and uncle in Farwell, Michigan, and they ran the publishing company that created and printed the weekly county newspaper. My uncle chased stories, his brother ran the presses, my aunt held down the shop and typed up articles, and my cousins and I proofread the entire paper! Given the hard times that put us there, this was an amazing period of my life, and that job is still the best I ever had. It only lasted a year or so, but I've been reading, writing, and editing ever since."
I could do great things with your personal development book. I am an editor, but even though editing is writing (in a way), I was relieved to read that your book has already been written. Starting from scratch is not much fun for me, but your project plays to my strengths.
One of my regular clients is an executive director of a nonprofit organization, and when we work together she does her best to write up what she's trying to say, then I turn what she wrote into the personable, dynamic message she had in her head. I think of it as "author whispering," but she calls me her secret weapon.
Sorry, the milestones will not behave!
I hope to here from you soon.
