BBQ Smoker Electronics / Electricity

For a pet project, I am looking for help in the areas of electronics and electricity. I am testing a few ideas to help increase the quality of my BBQ by automating a few processes. Specifically, there are three designs I am looking for. 1) 25 CFM Blower Fan: -Use: to blow air into the firebox to provide oxygen to the fire -Requirements: relatively small in size (think computer fan: ~5 inch blades), adjustable...that is, can turn a knob to adjust how hard the unit blows, preferably runs off of batteries (if the batteries don't have to be changed very frequently), can be mounted fairly easily, have some ability to endure heat, possess a switch or some other convenient way to turn on and off. -Deliverable: a list of specifically what parts to buy and clear instructions on how to wire them together. When I say specific, I mean specific, down to wire gauge, length, connector types, the website where they can be purchased, etc. -Cost of parts: as cheap as possible using quality parts. The final setup shouldn't cost anymore than $50 to purchase the parts. 2) Exhaust Fan: -Use: to create a small draft to help pull smoke from the fire box through the cooking chamber and out of the unit. -Requirements: similar requirements to #1 -Deliverable: similar to #1 -Parts cost: similar to #1 3) Heating element, Solid State Relay, PID Controller, Thermocouples, Wiring Use: the items will be combined to essentially turn the smoker into an oven. The thermocouple will measure the internal temperature of the smoker and transmit it to the PID. The PID will use this information to control the solid state relay and in turn the heating element. The smoking chamber could vary in size and material based on some of the constraints listed below, but for starters the chamber will be roughly 2 feet deep, 2 feet wide, 4 feet tall. The material of the smoker is 16-18 gauge (fairly light) steel. Requirements: for the time being, the circuit that the heating element would run off of would be 13 amps / 120V. So the max watts for the heating element would have to be limited to 1,500 to keep from blowing the circuit. This is an air heating application, which is important for determining the type of heating element. Strip heaters, fin heaters, or tubular oven-like heaters could all be acceptable choices, but for space reasons, strip or fin heating elements may be preferable. This is the area where I need expertise as I don't have the knowledge to make all of the required parts + the electricity constraints work together collectively and safety. Deliverable: same as #1 & #2 Parts cost: PIDs, thermocouples, solid state relays, and wiring aren't that expensive…everything could probably be bought for <$50 I imagine. However, heating elements fluctuate in price and we would reach a decision once we know what the options are and what the pros and cons of each are.
