Project Scope: Program an Arduino and (1) provide the code, as well as the (2) wiring diagram, to instruct a stepper motor to rise via remote, then lower upon receiving a signal from a sensor or within a certain timeframe if the sensor is not triggered. Device Functionality: The device will raise and lower an arm 90 degrees using a gear attached to a stepper motor. The arm will be raised by pressing a button on an IR remote. Once raised, the arm will remain raised until a sensor attached to the arm senses an impact above a certain threshold OR until a period of 10 seconds has passed. Once the sensor is activated OR 10 seconds pass, the arm will be lowered back to the start position. Modules: A. From down position: Push button, IR remote // signal Stepper motor up // arm goes up from 0 degrees to 90 degrees Timer // 10 second timer begins B. From up position: “Impact” case scenario: Vibration Sensor // feels “impact” above an adjustable threshold Serial register // “impact” Green LED lights up // displays “impact” Stepper motor down // result of impact; stepper motor goes down from 90 degrees to 0 degrees Timer // timer stops OR “No Impact” case scenario: Timer registers time expired// 10 seconds expires Red LED lights up // displays “no impact” Serial register // “no impact” Stepper motor down // arm goes down from 90 degrees to 0 degrees Components used in the project: 1.
